NOTIFICATION

The draft of the following rules to amend the Karnataka Department of

School Education (Pre-University) (Academic, Registration, Administration and

Grant-in-aid etc.,) Rules, 2024, which the Government of Karnataka proposes

to make in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 145 of

the Karnataka Education Act, 1983 (Karnataka Act 1 of 1995), is hereby

published as required by sub-section (1) of section 145 of the said Act, for the

information of all the persons likely to be effected thereby and notice is hereby

given that the said draft will be taken into consideration after the expiry of thirty

days from the date of its publication in the official Gazette.

Any objection or suggestion which may be received by the State

Government from any person with respect to said draft before the expiry of the

period specified above will be considered by the State Government. The

objections and suggestions may be addressed to the Additional Chief Secretary

to Government, Department of School Education and Literacy, M.S.Building, Dr.

B.R. Ambedkar Veedhi, Bengaluru-560 001.

DRAFT RULES

1. Title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the

Karnataka Department of School Education (Pre-University) (Academic,

Registration, Administration and Grant-in-aid etc,.) (Amendment) Rules, 2026.

(2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in

the Official Gazette.

2. Amendment of rule 5.-In the Karnataka Department of School

Education (Pre-University) (Academic, Registration, Administration and Grant-

in-aid etc.,) Rules, 2024, in rule 5, in sub-rule (3), for clause (f) the following

shall be substituted, namely:-

"(f) well-equipped sports room and playground facilities sufficient for all

the students in the institution to assemble, play and conduct sports, physical

education and recreational activities:

Provided that, the requirement of playground shall not be construed as

mandatorily requiring exclusive open land within the institution premises in

areas falling under the limits of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and other

City Corporations in the State, if adequate indoor or outdoor sports infrastructure

is provided within the institution premises:

Provided further that, such sports infrastructure shall be adequate for the

sanctioned student strength of the institution and conform to safety and

regulatory standards specified by the Government from time to time."
