WHEREAS, I am satisfied that public interest so

requires that all shops and commercial establishments

situated in the State of Kerala should be exempted from

the provisions of Sections 10 (1) and 11 (1) of the

Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Act 1960

(Act 34 of 1960) in connection with the festival for the

year 2011 specified in the schedule given below.

THEREFORE, in exercise of powers conferred upon me

under Section 5 of the Kerala Shops and Commercial

Establishment Act, 1960 (Act 34 of 1960) read

G. O. (MS) No. 68/87/LBR published in the Kerala

Gazette No. 25, dated 28-6-1988 as SRO No. 763/88, C.

Reghu, IAS, the Labour Commissioner of Kerala, hereby

exempt the Shops and Commercial Establishments

situated in the State of Kerala from the provisions of

Sections 10 (1) and 11(1) of the Kerala Shops and

Commercial Establishments Act 1960 for the period and

days shown in the Schedule here to subject to the

conditions that normal working hours of employees shall

be as laid down in Section 6 and 9 of the Act and that

employees shall be paid overtime wages for the period

of overtime work.
