confidence of students but upholding the best traditions of academic institutions.
The decision of the jury panel will be final.
Manual for Internships
The students have to undergo an internship for a period of eight weeks in any apparel, textile, design houses etc. to
interrelate the knowledge from the books to the practical. It is a form of blending between the class room knowledge and
the industry application. The students should get a deep understanding about the systems, procedures of the industry and
get accustomed with the work culture of the future.

11
The student should select the industry under the guidance of the concerned Department/Institution focusing on the
area of interest. In case if a student failed to choose any, the department can assist the student in getting a tie-up with the
industry and proceed. And if any industry is particular on the students’ caliber, the department has to co-ordinate with the
industry to carry out interviews of the students and shortlist the required.
The industries are advised to offer stipends to students during the internship and the stipend amount will be under
the discretion of the industry
Before the student proceeds for internship, they are advised to receive the copy of the letter for the internship
(addressed to the industry). A clear brief should be given to students by department incorporating the objectives of the
internship. The guideline of methodology & outcomes should be provided.
Once the student joins the company, they are also supposed to send back the duly signed Joining report form back
to the department. The students are expected to report to factory or office on all working days as decided by
organization in charge from time to time. The students are advised to strictly follow the company rules and regulations as
per the following parameters.
Punctuality regarding reporting
Photography in the factory/Office premises
Collection of swatches, trims and other merchandise which might be required for their presentation at the
Institute.
Collection of different organizational formats
Using infrastructural facilities
The students are also required to perform duties as assigned by the organization in charge from time to time.
During the internship, if the student has any problem, they should contact their department Head for assistance. A team of
one-two students is assigned to a company and during the internship time, they are required to maintain a daily diary,
which they should use as reference point in order to formulate a report which they have to present at the end of the
internship. One faculty member is responsible for the arrangement and co-ordination for the internship who will visit the
students’ atleast once during this period to check on the progress of the project or alternatively keep in telephone/e-mail
contact with the company project co-ordinator/students. The company co-ordinator responsible for the Students internship
is also consulted to assess the pace and quality of training. The students should acquire inputs in area of both design and
production during the internship which can actually help in their range development.
The internship students can contribute to the industry in the areas of design and development. The subsequent
feedback and performance appraisal received from the industry, plays an important role in enriching the course curriculum
which, in turn, helps the department to train design professionals who can play a more strategic role. Once the internship
is over and as and when the students get back to the department, Students should prepare a report (on the basis of
instructions issued by the department) and presentation of material. They should submit the report few days in advance to
the internship presentation (along with swatch file). In case, if the students are bringing any of the company’s product/
possession to the institute for adding in their documentation, No Dues certificate from the industry need to be submitted
to the department. The students shall append full particulars of the persons/place they contact during the visit. The report
and swatch file submitted during the internship presentation will become part of library. Students are advised to prepare
duplicate copy for themselves, before submission. The internship report prepared by students will be kept in the
department as confidential for academic and research purpose.
The internship work of the student will be evaluated (individually for each student) by a panel of jury members
comprising of internal faculty and industry members. Industry internship is an independent subject and the marks obtained
for the same will be added to the subsequent semester. Therefore, any student who successfully clears ‘industry
internship’ would not have to repeat the subject, irrespective of whether he/she passes or fails the subsequent semester.
Manual for Industrial Visit/Study Tours
Industrial visits are arranged in all the odd semesters of the curriculum to equip the students to understand the
various field activities pertaining to their area of specialization. Industrial visits may include visiting any industries/design
houses related to fashion industry, attending trade fairs, clusters etc. The students should be able to explore and observe
the various activities of the industry without, affecting their day to day work.

The students should be taken in groups which can be accommodated in the industry at a time and should be
accompanied by at least one faculty to relate the class room with the actual practice. The students should behave in a
disciplined way, to a degree higher than they do in the campus considering the work environment.
The students are supposed to observe the area of focus thoroughly and have to record on the processes. On
returning back from the industry, the students have to document on the visits and need to share and discuss about the
thoughts and ideas about the visit. The attendance of the students on the visit should be made compulsory.

Regulations Relating To Post Graduate Diploma in Logistics and
Supply Chain Management (PGDLSCM) Course
The Academic Council at its meeting held on 19th May 2015 resolved to approve the Regulations relating to Post
Graduate Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (PGDLSCM) Course.
Introduction
Economic growth in India goes in tandem with industrial growth. Logistics Sector is one of the recently attention
drawing and crucial sectors that support almost all industrial activity. Notwithstanding its importance and all pervasive
presence, it has not been given its due nor accorded the attention it deserves as a separate sector in itself. The level of
inefficiency in logistics activities in the country has been very high across all trades and has taken its toll everywhere. To
bring efficiency and quality improvement in logistics operations it is imperative to develop the capabilities of logistics
service providers. With logistics being a service oriented sector, skill development will be a key requisite. There is a
significant gap in the demand and availability of quality manpower in the logistics sector due to the lack of focus on
developing manpower and skills -for the Sector. This gap, unless addressed urgently, is likely to be a stumbling block on
the path of progress of the logistics and service sectors in India and in consequence, could impact unenthusiastically the
growth in industry and manufacturing sectors. This underscores the need for more educational institutions, in tie-up with
industries and authorized certifying bodies, to create opportunities for the unemployed to be skill-trained and equipped with
appropriate certification to meet the growing demand for quality manpower in the sector.
