General Description:
The water mist fire fighting system shall be a self-driven fire fighting unit operated with inbuilt petrol
engine coupled to a pump and attached with a reducer, hose pipes and mist generating guns. The water
mist system shall be capable of carrying 350 ltrs. of water and 50 ltrs. of foam concentrate with a separate
system to pump and mix in the required ratio which can be discharged in the form of mist from a gun. The
system should have two numbers of 60 mtrs. standard hose reel to deliver water to the scene of fire which
shall be tested at 1.5 times the maximum working pressure of the system. The discharge gun shall be of
light weight have in stainless steel/brass nozzle capable of producing water mist with the ability to control
the discharge in short burst and long shots by means of a rotating collar in the gun. The gun shall have
necessary handles to hold it properly for fire fighting. The foam required shall be aqueous film forming
foam (AFFF). The unit shall have adequate provisions for safety of the system.

Main Pump of the Unit:
The pump should be capable of suction of water from tank, maintain adequate discharge rate and pressure
for operation of nozzle at optimum efficiency.

Engine of the Unit:
The prime mover of pump shall be four stroke petrol driven engine and shall have compatible electrical
and lubrication system. The engine should preferably be on 12V battery for which adequate charger
shall also be provided. Suitable electronic instruments shall be provided on the body of engine/panel for
fuel level, battery and temperature. The engine shall have electric starter and emergency manual starter.

Foam Mixing System:
A suitable means shall be provided for mixing of foam from tank so that proportion for delivery remains
constant and foam quality is maintained.

Accessories:
The unit shall have the following;
Electric Starter (Enabling the unit to be electrically started)—1 No.
Utility light -12 V, 55 W complete with telescopic bar—1 No.
Complete Control Panel—1 No.
Hour Counter—1 No.
Aspiration Kit Complete with 6 mtrs. suction Pipe—1 No.
Emergency light bar (Beacon light) with combination of red, blue and white on the roof of the cab
with 2 ton hooter minimum 50 W would be provided on the cabin roof top in the suitable manner. The
switch of the light/siren would be provided on the dash board.

Safety Devices:
The unit shall have proper heat and exhaust outlet for the engine without causing any interference to
the operator while operating the unit. Any safety device which is felt to be necessary to be a
part of the equipment.
(10) Main Water Tank:
The water tank shall be made of GRP giving a corrosion free life and light weight to the Water Mist
System, having usable water storage capacity of 350 ltrs. properly baffled into segment to reduce water
surge. The thickness of the water tank should be of minimum 5 mm. A man hole of 330 mm and
overflow pipe and an optical level of water should be part of the tank. The tank should resist to flame and
be anti-ignition complying with the following standard.

The tank must be monolithic (one piece design) to eliminate the problem of the limited mechanical
resistance to lateral and centrifugal forces of the tank when vehicle driven on uneven ground.
The details of material of tank along with specification shall be indicated in the offer. The complete water
mist unit including the engine, water/foam tank, pump, hose reels, HP discharge guns etc. shall be of
European origin and CE marked.
(11) Hose Reel Hoses:
The hoses provided in the system shall be high quality and shall be capable of holding the temperature
ranging from 5°C to 60°C. The materials specification, working pressure, test pressure and
cracking pressure should be indicateed for each type of hose.
(12) Operating Conditions:
Water mist fire fighting system shall operate satisfactory under the following climate conditions.
(a)
Variation of ambient temparature from 20º C to +55º C with 98% relative humidity.
(b)
Dusty and corrosive atmosphere.
(c)
Altitude-up to 1200 m above Mean Sea Level.
(13) Marking:
Marking shall give the details of capacity, manufacturer’s name, month and year of the manufacturing of
the system etc.
(14) Test of Acceptance of fire fighting system:
Physical dimensions, performance and weight check of equipment as given under different items above
shall form part of test of acceptance. The appliance shall be inspected in different stages before mounting
of the complete unit to the chassis and after mounting of the complete unit on to the chassis.
(15) Workmanship and finish:
All parts of the appliance shall be of good workmanship and shall have streamlined finish.
