In exercise of the powers conferred by the Code of

Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974), the High

Court of Kerala hereby:

(i)

Appoints Sri. Purushothaman, P., Puthalath

House, Elathur P. O., Kozhikode as Honorary

Special Judicial Magistrate of Second Class

(Railways), Kozhikode for a period of one year

with effect from 23-1-2020.

(ii)

Confers upon Sri.Purushothaman P., all the powers

conferred upon a Magistrate of the First Class

under the said code in respect of all cases of

persons travelling without a proper pass or

ticket over any part of the Southern Railway

within the districts of Kasaragod, Thalassery,

Kozhikode and that part of the district of

Manjeri which lies to the north of and exclusive

of Tirur or committing over any part of the said

Railway in the above said area, any of the

offences falling under Sections 137-139, 141 and

142, 144 to 147, 155 to 157,159,162,163,166 and

167 of the Indian Railways Act, 1989 (Central

Act 24 of 1989);

the said code, the powers to try summarily the

Section 14(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure

Explanatory Note

(This does not form part of the notification

but is intended to indicate its general purport.)

As per Government Order read as 1st paper above,

Government have accorded administrative sanction for a

new Police Station at Kannanalloor with Jurisdiction over

local areas specified in schedule A of the said Government

Order. As per the Official Memorandum read as 2nd above,

Hon’ble High Court has intimated that the proposal to

vest the territorial jurisdiction over the newly formed

Kannanalloor Police Station with the Court of Judicial

Magistrate of I Class-II, Kottarakara is under consideration

of the Hon’ble High Court and directed this court to take

steps to vest the jurisdiction over the said Police station

with the Court of Judicial Magistrate of I Class-II,

Kottarakara as an interim measure, till a final decision in

this regard is arrived from the Hon’ble High Court.

Accordingly Notification read as 3rd paper above was

issued. Now the Hon’ble High Court has considered the

matter in detail and decided to vest the jurisdiction over

the said Police station with the Court of Judicial

Magistrate of I Class-II, Kottarakara and directed this

court vide O.M read as 4th above to issue notification in

this regard.

This notification is intended to achieve the above

object.
