ORDER
WHEREAS, under the provision of sub-rule (1) of rule 183 of the Kerala Co-
operative Societies Rules, 1969, a candidate for appointment by direct recruitment must
have completed eighteen years and must not have completed forty years of age on the
first day of January of the calendar year in which the applications for appointment are
invited. Provided that the upper age limit shall be raised by five years in the case of
Co-operation (PS) Department

in the case of candidates belonging to any of the Other Backward Classes;
AND WHEREAS, under the provisions of sub-rule (1) of rule 185, subject to the
provisions of sub-rules (2), (3) and (4), appointments to the categories of posts in a
society, other than those mentioned in sub-rules (2), (3) and (4), shall be made by
promotion, on the basis of seniority in the feeder category;
AND WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Maranalloor Social Welfare Co-
operative Society Limited No.T.2045 in Thiruvananthapuram District has resolved to
request the Government to exempt the said society from the provisions of sub-rule (1) of
rule 183 and sub-rule (1) of rule 185 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Rules, 1969,
for the purpose of appointing Smt. Indulekha V.A., whose date of birth is 25th January,
1976 as Secretary in the said society for taking into consideration of her service in the
said society;
AND WHEREAS, the Registrar of Co-operative Societies has recommended the
proposal to the Government to exempt the said society from the provisions of sub-rule
(1) of rule 183 and sub-rule (1) of rule 185 of the said Rules, for the purpose of
appointing Smt. Indulekha V.A., as Secretary in the said society considering her service
in the said society;
AND WHEREAS, the Government have examined the matter in detail and are
satisfied that it is necessary to exempt the Maranalloor Social Welfare Co-operative
Society Limited No.T.2045 in Thiruvananthapuram District from the provisions of sub-
rule (1) of rule 183 and sub-rule (1) of rule 185 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies
Rules, 1969, so as to enable the said society to appoint Smt. Indulekha V.A., as
Secretary in the said society;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by rule 181 of the
Kerala Co-operative Societies Rules, 1969, the Government of Kerala hereby exempt
the Maranalloor Social Welfare Co-operative Society Limited No.T.2045 in
Thiruvananthapuram District from the provisions of sub-rule (1) of rule 183 and sub-rule
(1) of rule 185 of the said Rules, so as to enable the said society to appoint Smt.

Indulekha V.A., as Secretary in the said society taking into consideration of her service
in the said society.

Explanatory Note
(This does not form part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general
purport.)
As per sub-rule (1) of rule 183 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Rules, 1969, a
candidate for appointment by direct recruitment must have completed eighteen years of
age and must not have completed forty years of age on the first day of January of the

the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe and by three years in the case of candidate
belonging to any of the Other Backward Classes. As per sub-rule (1) of rule 185, subject

a society other than those mentioned in sub-rules (2), (3) and (4) shall be made by

Registrar of Co-operative Societies to exempt the said society from the provisions of
sub-rule (1) of rule 183 and sub-rule (1) of rule 185 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies
Rules, 1969, for the purpose of appointing Smt. Indulekha V.A., as Secretary in the said
society. The Government have examined the matter in detail and have decided to exempt
the said society from the provisions of the sub-rule (1) of rule 183 and sub-rule (1) of
rule 185 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Rules, 1969, so as to enable the said
society to appoint Smt. Indulekha V.A., as Secretary in the said society considering her
service in the said society.
This order is intended to achieve the above object.
