Explanatory Note

(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)

In Part I of the Kerala Service Rules, in APPENDIX VII under the heading SECTION II -

SPECIAL CASUAL LEAVE, rule 20 envisages grant of Special Casual Leave to the employees having

physically or mentally challenged children for a maximum period of 15 days in a calendar year on

production of certificate from a medical officer attending the child, stating that the child is physically or

mentally challenged on each occasion of the leave. However, the production of fresh certificate on

each occasion creates unnecessary hardship to the employees. In order to simplify the procedure,

Government have decided to make suitable amendments in the Kerala Service Rules.

The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
