NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Kerala

Public Services Act, 1968 (19 of 1968) read with section 3 thereof, the Government of

Kerala hereby make the following rules further to amend the Special Rules for the Kerala

Last Grade Service issued by notification under G. O. (P) No. 82/66/Public (Rules)

Department dated 8th March, 1966 and published in Part I of the Kerala Gazette No. 14

dated 5th April, 1966, namely:—

RULES

1. Short title and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Kerala Last

Grade Service (Amendment) Rules, 2025.

(2) They shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment of the rules.—In the Special Rules for the Kerala Last Grade Service,—

(1) in sub-rule (a) of rule 5, after the existing notes in category 17, the following note shall

be inserted, namely:—

“Note.—(4) Differently abled candidates are not eligible to apply for selection

to the post of Camp Followers”

(2) in the TABLE under sub-rule (b) of rule 8, against serial number 54, for the

entries in column (3), in sub-item (iv) of item (b) and Note under it, the following entries

shall be substituted, namely:—

“(iv) Height

For male candidates—l 60 cms (Minimum)

For male candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled

Tribes—155 cms (Minimum)

For female candidates—155 cms (Minimum)

For female candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled

Tribes—150 cms (Minimum)

Notes:—(1) Differently abled candidates are not eligible to apply for selection

to the post of Camp Followers.

(2) The fitness certificate on the above standard shall be obtained from

a Medical Officer not below the rank of an Assistant Surgeon.”

Explanatory Note

(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general

purport.)

The post of Camp Follower in Police Department was included in the Special Rules

for the Kerala Last Grade Service vide G. O. (P) No. 13/2020/P&ARD dated

14th October, 2020 and published as S. R. O. No. 715/2020 in the Kerala Gazette

Extraordinary No. 2440 dated 15th October, 2020. The physical standards with regard

to the height for the female candidates have not been separately mentioned in the said

notification and hence there is no clarity on the physical standards required for the female

candidates for applying to the post. In order to clarify the matter, the Government have

decided to bring suitable amendments in the Special Rules for the Kerala Last Grade

Service. Further, it is also decided to exclude differently abled candidates from applying

to the post of Camp Followers, considering the arduous nature of duties attached to the

post.

The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
