In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 7 of the

Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985 (Central Act 13 of 1985) read with clause (d) of sub-section

2 of section 24 of chapter IV of the Tribunal Reforms Act, 2026 (Central Act 17 of 2026), the

Government of Kerala hereby authorise Smt. M. R. Sreeletha, Judicial Member of the Kerala

G.O.(P) No.14/2026/P&ARD.

Administrative Tribunal, to act as the Chairperson of the said Tribunal until the date on which

the new Chairperson is appointed in accordance with the provisions of the Act, enters upon the

office.

Explanatory Note

(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general

purport.)

Sub-section (1) of section 7 of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985 (Central Act 13 of

1985) stipulates that in the event of the occurrence of any vacancy in the office of the Chairman

by reason of his death, resignation or otherwise, such one of the Members as the appropriate

Government may, by notification, authorise in this behalf, shall act as the Chairman until the

date on which a new Chairman, appointed in accordance with the provisions of this Act to fill

such vacancy, enters upon his office. The term of office of the Chairman of the Kerala

Administrative Tribunal has expired on the 5^th day of September, 2025. Steps are being taken

for the appointment of Chairman in accordance with the provisions of the Administrative

Tribunals Act, 1985 and the rules made thereunder for the purpose. Accordingly, as per

notification issued under G.O.(P) No.14/2025/P&ARD dated 29^th September, 2025 and

published as S.R.O.No.1137/2025 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No.3470 dated 29^th

September, 2025, the Government of Kerala appointed Justice P. V. Asha, Judicial Member of

the KAT, to act as Chairperson of the Kerala Administrative Tribunal until the new Chairperson

assumes charge. As Hon’ble Justice P. V. Asha is facing difficulty in discharging the duties of

Acting Chairperson owing to severe health issues and her tenure as Judicial Member is expiring

on 8^th September 2026, the Government have decided to authorise Smt.M.R.Sreeletha, Judicial

Member of the Kerala Administrative Tribunal to act as Chairperson of the Tribunal until the

date on which the new Chairperson is appointed in accordance with the provisions of the Act,

enters upon his office.

The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
