ADMINISTRATION OF UNION TERRITORY OF LADAKH

NOTIFICATION

Distribution Wing Ladakh Power Development Department (LPDD) having Registered office at Council Secretariat

Kurbathang, Kargil Union territory of Ladakh, is the State Electricity Department, looking after construction,

operations, maintenance and development of electrical transmission and distribution network in the Union Territory

of Ladakh. In discharge of its functions and duties Ladakh Power Development Department (LPDD) intends to

apply to the Administration ofUnion territory of Ladakh, to confer upon it all the powers under section 164 of the

Electricity Act, 2003 (No. 36 of 2003), for the placing of electric lines or electrical plants for the transmission of

electricity or for the purpose of telephonic or telegraphic communications necessary for the proper coordination of

works which telegraph authority possess under the Indian Telegraphic Act, 1885 (No. 13 of 1885), with respect to

the placing of telegraph lines and posts for the purpose of a telegraph established or maintained, by the

Administration of Union territory of Ladakh or to be so established or maintained and will undertake the survey,

construction, installation, inspection, erection and other works to be followed by commissioning, operation,

maintenance and other works for the following transmission projects under Prime Minister's Development Package

2015 in Union Territory of Ladakh which have been approved vide Ministry of Power, Government of India Office

Memorandum dated: 06.01.2017 &19.07.2021.

1. 220 kV S/C Phyang-Diskit Transmission Line on D/C Towers -77.60km (appx.)

2. 220 kV S/C Drass-Padum Transmission Line on D/C Towers 195.28km (appx.)

3. 220/33 kV, 50 MVA GIS Sub-station with 25 MVAR Bus Reactor at Padum and Bay Extension at existing

Drass GIS Sub-station of Power Grid.

4. 220/33 kV, 50 MVA GIS Sub-station at Diskit and Bay Extension at existing Phyang GIS Sub-station of

Power Grid.

Ladakh Power Development Department (LPDD) has already received approval under sub-section (1) of section 68

of Electricity Act,2003(No. 36 of 2003), vide ORDER NO-16 (PDD)/UTL of 2022 dated-01/08/2022 issued by

Secretary, Power Development and New & Renewable Energy Department, Union Territory of Ladakh.

The said transmission projects shall pass through over, under, along or across the lands/ immovable property in and

around the area of and/or between thevillage’sboundary, mentioned hereinbelow,in or upon which Ladakh Power

Development Department (LPDD) shall have power to use the land and/or immovable property for the purpose of

establishment of the said Transmission Projects and Maintenance thereof:
