The terms and conditions for appointment of the Chairman and Members of the Committee (hereinafter

referred to as New Districts Committee) constituted to assess various aspects related to the formation of new

districts in the Union territory of Ladakh vide Order dated 25.09.2024 referred above, and such other functions of

the New Districts Committee, shall be as follows, namely: —

(1)

The Chairman and Members of the New Districts Committee shall be entitled to be paid a monthly

remuneration equivalent to the last pay drawn (at the same level of pay in VII pay matrix) with all such allowances

including special allowances, as paid to an equivalent level AIS Officer serving for the Administration of UT of

Ladakh, after deducting the amount of pension being received, including commuted pension thereon.

(2)

The Chairman and Members of the New Districts Committee, in addition to clause (1) above, shall be paid

an amount of Rs. 20,000/- per month for incurring out of pocket expenses while on their visits / sittings / circuit

sittings / public hearings etc.

(3)

The conditions of services which have not been expressly provided for, shall be governed by the All India

Service Rules, as applicable.

(4)

The Chairman and Members of the New Districts Committee shall be entitled to be paid Travelling

Allowances / Daily Allowances, at the rates admissible, to an equivalent level of AIS Officer.

(5)

The New Districts Committee shall be serviced by the Deputy Commissioner, Leh and Kargil, whenever

they have their sittings / circuit sittings / public hearings in the designated areas of the new districts, respectively.

(6)

For the purpose of clause (4) above, the Deputy Commissioners of District Leh and District Kargil (the ex-

officio Members of the New Districts Committee), respectively, shall provide all secretarial assistance with adequate

staffing, office space, stationery, arrangements of accommodation of suitable entitlement, transportation etc. within

their respective jurisdictions.

(7)

The New Districts Committee may regulate its own procedure for the conduct of meetings. sittings, circuit

sittings including public hearings etc., and for exercising the functions and terms of reference entrusted to it.
