N O T I F I C A T I O N
Leh, the 12th of September, 2026
S.O. 264 - In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 9 of the Jammu and Kashmir Land
Grants Act, 1960, as applicable to the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Administration of the
Union Territory of Ladakh hereby makes the following amendment to the Jammu and
Kashmir Land Grants Rules, 1960, namely: -
1. Short Title, extent and commencement: - (1) These rules may be called the Jammu and
Kashmir Land Grants (Amendment) Rules, 2026.
(2) They shall extend to the whole of Union territory of Ladakh.
(3) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Insertion of Rule 13.- After Rule 12 of the Jammu and Kashmir Land Grants Rules, 1960,
the following rule shall be inserted, namely: -
13. Special provision of Grant of land on lease.- (1) Notwithstanding anything contained
in the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Land Grants Rules, 1960, for grant of land on
lease basis to Union Territory/ Central Government Department or any of its agencies,
Statutory Boards, or Corporation or such other Government entities:
•
For land up to 10 acres: The premium amount shall be charged at a price of 1
rupee/acre and no annual ground rent shall be charged; and
•
For land more than 10 acres: The premium amount shall be 50 percent of the
prevalent market rate as published in Union Territory of Ladakh and an annual
ground rent shall be charged at the rate of 1 percent of the premium amount as
determined under sub-rule (1).”
