pleased to constitute a Monitoring Team in respect of Union Territory of Lakshadweep comprising
of the following offices who will ensure that the directives issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court
of India in the Suo Moto Writ Petition (Civil) No. 1 of 2020 in Re; Contagion of Covid 19 virus in
Prison with regard to Sub Jails and remand homes in Union Territory of Lakshadweep are being
complied with scrupulously

3. Secretary ( Social Welfare), Union Territory of Lakshadweep

F.No.2/02/2020-Genl (1)/869 :- The Administrator, Union Territory of Lakshadweep is
pleased to constitute a High Powered Committee in respect of Union Territory of Lakshadweep
as per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the Suo Moto Writ Petition (Civil)
No. 1 of 2020 in Re; Contagion of Covid 19 virus in Prison, comprising of the following :-
1. Executive Chairman of the Lakshadweep State Legal Services Authority
2. Secretary ( Home), Union Territory of Lakshadweep
3. Superintendent of Police, Union Territory of Lakshadweep
The committee will determine the class of prisoners that can be released on parole or an
interim bail for such periods as may be thought appropriate considering all relevant factors.

NOTIFICATION
F.No. 02/01/2011-Services/(3)/805 :- In exercise of the powers conferred by section
20 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974) read with Notification No. S.O. 183
(E) dated 20th March, 1974 of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, the
Administrator, Union Territory of Lakshadweep is pleased to appoint Shri. K. Buzar Jamhar,
Director of Panchayats as Executive Magistrate with jurisdiction in the Island of Amini Island.
He will exercise all or any of the powers exercisable by an Executive Magistrate under the said
code.
The Administrator is also pleased to specially empower him to exercise the powers
specified under section 107, 108, 109, 110, 133, 143, 144, 174 & 176 of the said code.
This Notification shall have effect from the date on which the officer takes over charge as
Sub Divisional Officer, Amini and remains till such period the office holds the charge of Sub
Divisional Officer, Amini.
