NOTIFICATION

No. 6-2/EC/LKD/2020 :- Whereas, a casual vacancy has occurred in the District

Panchayat, Lakshadweep, due to the resignation of Shri. Ashif Khan B.P., as member elected

to Constituency No. 22 (Kiltan-B) and a casual vacancy in Village (Dweep) Panchayat, Minicoy,

due to the disqualification of Shri. Mohammed Donfathige, elected as Member to

constituency No. 5;

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of Rule 79 of the Lakshadweep

(Election to Panchayats) Rules, 1995, the Election Commission for the Union Territory of

Lakshadweep hereby calls upon the aforesaid constituencies to elect a member each to fill the

said vacancies in accordance with the provisions of the Lakshadweep Panchayats

Regulation, 1994. Both the aforesaid vacancies are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes;

With respect to the said election, the Election Commission appoints the following

dates :-

(a) the 29^th January, 2021 (Friday) between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m., as the last date

and hours for making nominations;

(b) the 30^th January, 2021 (Saturday) 11.00 a.m., office of the respective Returning

Officer, as the date, time and place for scrutiny of nominations;

(c) the 1^st February, 2021 (Monday) 3.00 p.m., as the last date and hours for the

withdrawal of candidatures;

(d) the 21^st February, 2021 (Sunday) between 8.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m., as the date on

which and the hours during which the poll shall, if necessary, be taken and

(e) the 25^th February, 2021 (Thursday) as the date before which the election shall be

completed.
