NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub - section (1) of section 16 of the Prohibition

of Child Marriage Act, 2006 (No. 6 of 2007), read with Notification F. No. 11018/3/2008-UTL,

issued vide S.O.1274 (E) dated 30^th May, 2008 by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government

of India, the Administrator. Union Territory of Lakshadweep is pleased to designate the

following as the Child Marriage Prohibition Officers (CMPOs) to exercise the powers and

to perform the duties conferred by or under the said act within the local limits of their

jurisdiction in the Union Territory.

2. The Administrator, Union Territory of Lakshadweep, is also pleased to order

under sub - section (2) of section 16 of the Act that the Executive Officers (Village Dweep

Panchayat) and OICs of Department of Women & Child Development in all Islands are

designated to assist the CMPOs in the respective Islands.

3. This is issued with the approval of the Hon’ble Administrator, Union Territory of

Lakshadweep vide Dairy No. 765 Dated 09/12/2024.
