NOTIFICATION

Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016.

No. MISC. 2023/C.R. 98/UE-3.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (10) of section

72 read with sub-section (7) of section 71 and section 122 of the Maharashtra Public Universities

Act, 2016 (Mah. Act No. VI of 2017), the Government of Maharashtra hereby prescribes the Uniform

Statute relating to the norms for grant of autonomy to affiliated colleges, recognized institutions,

conducted colleges and constituent colleges of the Universities, namely:—

UNIFORM STATUTE No. 3 OF 2023

1. Short title and application.—

(1) This Statute may be called the Maharashtra Public Universities (Norms for Grant of

Autonomy to Affiliated Colleges, Recognized Institutions, Conducted Colleges and Constituent

Colleges) Uniform Statute, 2023.

(2) This Statute shall apply to all colleges which are affiliated to or institutions recognized

by the Universities or to the conducted colleges or constituent colleges of the Universities in

the State of Maharashtra under the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016, seeking the

conferment of autonomous status.

2. Provisions for Conferment of Autonomous Status and Measures for Maintenance of Standards

in Autonomous Colleges and Institutions.—

(1) The provisions of the University Grants Commission (Conferment of Autonomous Status

upon Colleges and Measures for Maintenance of Standards in Autonomous Colleges) Regulations,

2023, as amended from time to time, shall apply to all affiliated colleges, recognized institutions,

conducted colleges and constituent colleges of the universities seeking the conferment of

autonomous status.

(2) On and from the date of its publication of this Statute in the Maharashtra Government

Gazette, the Maharashtra Public Universities (Norms for Grant of Autonomy to Affiliated

Colleges, Recognized Institutions and Conducted or Constituent Colleges) Uniform Statute,

2018 (Uniform Statute No. 3 of 2019), shall stand repealed.
