NOTIFICATION

No. 9892/L.A.— Whereas on 02.11.2018 Shri George Tirkey, M.L.A. from 10-
Biramitrapur(ST) Assembly Constituency has given an application addressed to Hon’ble
Speaker wherein he has stated that Samata Kranti Dal Legislature Party in the Odisha
Legislative Assembly has merged with Indian National Congress Legislature Party in the
Odisha Legislative Assembly with effect from 02.11.2018;
Whereas he has further stated in his application that the merger of Samata Kranti
Dal Legislature Party with the Indian National Congress Legislature Party has been
accepted by the Leader of the Indian National Congress Legislature Party in Odisha
Legislative Assembly;
Whereas the merger of the Samata Kranti Dal Legislature Party with the
Indian National Congress Legislature Party has been confirmed by the Leader of the
Indian National Congress Legislature Party in his letter addressed to Hon’ble Speaker;
Whereas he has requested that he may be treated as a Member of the
Indian National Congress Legislature Party in the Odisha Legislative Assembly;
And whereas Shri George Tirkey, M.L.A. is the lone Member from Samata
Kranti Dal in the Odisha Legislative Assembly who by himself constitutes the entire
Samata Kranti Dal Legislature Party and in that process the provision of merger of original
party as enunciated in sub paragraph 2 of paragraph 4 of the 10th Schedule to the
Constitution of India is fully met and that the provision of disqualification as embodied to
paragraph 2 of the said Schedule is not attracted;
Now therefore, Hon’ble Speaker has been pleased to accept Shri George Tirkey,
M.L.A. as a Member of the Indian National Congress Legislature Party with effect from
02.11.2018.
