Rules, 2016.
No.8734–IV(Misc)SM-118/2018/SM. — Whereas Geological Survey of India (State
Unit: Odisha) has proposed to undertake prospecting operations during 2018-19 in the
following identified blocks as reported vide its letter No.1521-1523-KI (Vol-II)/

Whereas Geological Survey of India, among others, is exempted under the second proviso
to Section 4(1) of the MMDR Act, 1957, from the requirement of obtaining prospecting licence for
undertaking prospecting operations. However, to undertake such operations by GSI, notification is
required to be issued by the State Government u/r 67 of MCR, 2016.
And, whereas, Geological Survey of India, vide its letter cited supra has requested for such
notification,
Now, therefore, after careful consideration, the State Government, in exercise of powers
conferred under rule 67 of the Minerals (Other than Atomic and Hydro Carbons Energy Minerals)
Concession Rules, 2016 do hereby notify aforesaid blocks for exploration by GSI for a period of
two years with effect from the date of this notification.
