Guideline on functioning of Parks maintained by the Urban Local Bodies

& Planning Authorities such as Development Authority, Regional

Improvement Trust & Special Planning Authorities of the State.

The hectic and fast paced lifestyle of the citizens in the urban areas creates stress

which provides the need for Parks & Open spaces to be made available for the citizens for

de-stressing and workout activities.

One of the important functions of the ULBs & Planning Authorities is to create &

maintain good quality public parks & open spaces with facilities such as open GYM, child

play equipments, sitting benches etc. where people can relax, de-stress or do physical work

outs to maintain their mind & body.

It is also important to keep such public facilities open & available to public most of the

time.

After careful consideration and keeping in view of the need for extending urban

amenities to all, Government is pleased to direct all the Urban Local Bodies & Planning

Authorities of the State to keep open all the Parks maintained by them from 6:00 AM to 9:00

PM on all the days of the week without any intermittent closure. In case any park is open for

longer duration than this, then they may continue to maintain that.

The Executive Heads of all the Urban Local Bodies & Planning Authorities of the State

are directed to notify the aforesaid timing in conspicuous places including the entry gates and

shall take all necessary measures for smooth maintenance of the Parks.
