NOTIFICATION

The 13th September, 2019

No. 6424−LC-TR-32/2019/T.─ In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section

(1) of Section 200 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988) and in supersession of the

notification of the Government of Odisha in the Commerce & Transport (Transport)

Department No. 5459-LC-TR-32/2019/T., dated the 9th August, 2019 published in the

Extraordinary issue no. 1558 of the Odisha Gazette dated the 14th August, 2019 and the

notification of the said Department No. 2898-LC-TR-38/2018/T., dated the 16th April, 2018

published in the Extraordinary issue no. 599 of the Odisha gazette dated the 17th April,

2018, the State Government do hereby specify the Police Officers of and above the rank of

Sub-Inspector of Police posted at the Police Stations in all Urban Local Bodies of the

State, the Police Officers of and above the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police

posted at the Police Stations other than the Police Stations in Urban Local Bodies of all

Districts and all Traffic Police Stations in the State to compound offences committed under

different provisions of the said Act and punishable under sections 177, 179, under clauses

(i) and (ii) of sub-section (1) of Section 183, Section 184(only to the extent of use of

handheld communication devices while driving as in Explanation (c)), under sub-sections

(1) and (2) of Section 194 B, Section 194 C, 194 D, 194 E and 194 F of the said Act within

their respective Police Station jurisdiction for a period of three years.

2. This notification shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from the

1st September, 2019.
