NOTIFICATION

The 25th October, 2019

No.22512-PT1-HE-FE1B-POLICY-0004/2019/HE.—Whereas, the State Government

have established a new unitary University at Bolangir, called the Rajendra University, by

altering the territorial jurisdiction of the Sambalpur University, vide their notification in the

Higher Education Department No.5676-HE-FE1B-POLICY-0004-2019/HE, dated the

2nd March, 2019;

And, whereas, the Sambalpur University is overloaded with the affairs of about 240

colleges located within its territorial jurisdiction having affiliated to it;

And, whereas, it is felt necessary to disaffiliate the colleges of Bolangir and

Subarnapur Districts from the Sambalpur University and affiliate those colleges to the

Rajendra University at Bolangir so as to reduce the workload of Sambalpur University;

And, whereas, it is felt necessary to commence the academic activities of the

Rajendra University at Bolangir from the academic year, 2020 starting from 1st June,

2020;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) and

clause (g) of sub-section (3) of Section 32 of the Odisha Universities Act, 1989 (Odisha

Act 5 of 1989), the State Government do hereby alter the territorial jurisdiction of the

Sambalpur University by excluding the Revenue Districts of Bolangir and Subarnapur

Districts and by including the same in the Rajendra University at Bolangir with effect from

the 1st June, 2020 and direct that the colleges located within the Revenue Districts of

Bolangir and Subarnapur shall disaffiliate from the Sambalpur University and be affiliated

to the Rajendra University at Bolangir with effect from that date. The Rajendra

Autonomous College at Bolangir shall be upgraded to the Rajendra University with effect

from the 1st June, 2020.
