thinking for strategic steps to diversify niche tourism experiences in locations rich in
culture, heritage and biodiversity. The key areas are water-based recreation projects,
establishment of immersive home-stay experience in bio-diverse and culture rich
destinations still untouched by hotel networks, promotion of road trips to Odisha’s
hinterlands blessed with nature, culture and heritage, and development of eco-tourism
via creation of nature camps and eco-cottages in wildlife protected areas by
supplementing the livelihood of local people while providing the best of experiences to
nature lovers, be it trekking, sightseeing, safari, boating, etc.
Having a long coastline, the Government is leaving no stone unturned to
establish Odisha as a sought-after beach destination. Events like Eco-retreat have also
given a new dimension to Odisha Tourism. Niche tourism offerings like eco-tourism,
river cruise, water-based recreation and adventure sports, cuisine, homestays, etc are
being actively developed to diversify tourism offerings in various destinations across the
State.
