RESOLUTION
The 11th March 2024
SUBJECT— Restructuring of the Odisha Police Service
The Odisha Police Service (OPS) is an essential service for maintenance of Law & Order in
the State. It is necessary to strengthen the cadre by way of restructuring it. Therefore, the proposal
of restructuring of Odisha Police Service Cadre has drawn the attention of the State Government
for sometime past.
2. After careful consideration, the State Government have been pleased to decide to
restructure the Orissa Police Service and enhance the cadre strength to 873 by way of new
creation and abolition of the existing posts at different level in following manners :—

3. The principle of interchangeability of posting between OPS(STS) and OPS (SAG) subject
to maintaining the seniority of reporting officer, would be followed while posting the officer in the
field. This will give flexibility to the Government, in posting of experienced persons in key position in
the field as well as various levels of Government.
4. This will come into force with immediate effect
5. The cadre strength of restructured OPS cadre has been approved by the Hon’ble Chief
Minister and concurred by the Finance Department, G.A. & P.G. Department & Law Department.
ORDER—Ordered that this Resolution be published in the extraordinary issue of Odisha
Gazette and copies thereof be forwarded to all Departments of Government/all Heads of
Departments/all Collectors/Accountant-General, Odisha, Bhubaneswar/Special Secretary,
Odisha Public Service Commission, Cuttack/Secretary to Governor, Odisha/Nodal Officer,
Home (IMU) Department.
