No. 380—HOME-FS-CRTN2-0006/2015-CD
GOVERNMENT OF ODISHA
HOME (CIVIL DEFENCE) DEPARTMENT
RESOLUTION
The 22nd April 2015
SUBJECT—Augmentation of Training Capacity of Odisha Fire Service.
The rapid expansion of Fire Services in the State necessitates augmentation of training
capacity, as the existing training institute does not have adequate facilities in Watermanship &
Lifeguard Training as well as training for modern disaster response equipment. It was decided in
the 3rd meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) held on the 18th December 2013 to
augment the capability building activities for effective disaster response. The Additional D.G. of
Police, Fire Service, Commandant General, Home Guards and Director, Civil Defence, Odisha,
Cuttack has been requesting the State Government to augment training capacity of Odisha Fire
Service and the same was under active consideration of Government for some time past.
Now, with regard to above, it is felt expedient to augment the training capacity of Odisha Fire
Services by upgrading the existing training institute and establishing two new training institutes to
impart training to all Fire Services Personnel, Home Guards & Civil Defence Volunteers without
involving any additional infrastructure.
Therefore, Government, after careful consideration have been pleased to approve the
proposal as follows :—
1.
Up gradation of the existing Odisha Fire Service Training Institute, Bhubaneswar to
Odisha Fire & Disaster Response Academy, Bhubaneswar.
2.
Establishment of Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Institute at Naraj, Cuttack in
the existing premises utilized for training of Home Guards.
