NOTIFICATION

The Lieutenant-Governor is pleased to make the following further

amendments to the Rules for the Grant of Incentive for the Marriage

between Disabled and Normal Persons 1986, notified in G. O. Ms.

No. 27/86-Wel.(HSW), dated 30-4-1986 of the Welfare Secretariat,

Puducherry and published in Part-II of the Extraordinary Gazette No. 32,

dated 15-10-1986 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), namely:—

AMENDMENT

1. In the said rules, in rule 1,—

For the existing short title, the following shall be substituted.

These rules shall be called “The Rules for Grant of Financial

Assistance for the Marriage between Differently Abled and

Normal Persons and between the Differently Abled Persons, 2012”.

2. In the said rules, in rule 2. Object :—

For the existing, the following shall be substituted.

The object of the scheme is to support financially to lead the

life smoothly after the marriage between the differently abled

and normal persons and between the differently abled persons.

In the said rules, for the word, “Incentive” wherever it occurs,

the words “financial assistance” shall be substituted and for the words

‘Disabled Person’ wherever they occur, the words ‘Differently Abled

Persons’ shall be substituted.

4. In the said rules, in rule 5. Eligibility :—

The following shall be incorporated after rule 5 (vi)—

(vii) “The financial assistance is also payable when the

marriage is solemnised between the differently abled persons

and the couple reside in the Union territory of Puducherry.”

5. In the said rule, in rule 6. Amount of allowance :—

The following clause shall be incorporated after rule 6 (b) (iii)—

(c) The amount of financial assistance that may be granted

under these rules shall not exceed ` 50,000 (Rupees fifty

thousand only) to each married couple of between the

differently abled persons.

(d) The amount of ` 50,000 referred to above shall be

apportioned as follows:-

(i)

Gift to the couple for the purchase of

household materials, etc.

(ii)

Small Savings Certificate in the joint

name of the husband and the wife as gift. . . ` 30,000

(iii) The amount of ` 20,000 which shall be paid in cash

and amount of ` 30,000 in the form of National Savings

Certificate to be held in deposit of 6 years in the joint name

of husband and wife shall be issued to them on production

of marriage certificate issued by the competent authority

along with the application for the marriage between

differently abled persons.

2. This amendment shall come into force at once.

3. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department,

vide their U.O.No.13119/FD/F5/A2, dated 14-2-2012.
