NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 28 of the

Legal Services Authorities Act 1987 (Central Act 39 of 1987),

the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherrry in consultation with the

Chief Justice of the High Court, Madras is hereby pleased to enhance

the upper limit of annual income for entitlement to legal services

from ` 50,000 to ` 1,00,000 and for the said purpose hereby makes the

following rules further to amend the Union Territory of Puducherrry

Legal Services Authority Rules, 1998 issued in G. O. Ms. No. l/98-LD,

dated 24-1-1998 of the Law Department, Puducherrry and published in

Part-II of the Extraordinary Gazette No. 3, dated 24th January 1998, namely:-

1. Short title and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called

the Union Territory of Puducherrry Legal Services Authority (Amendment)

Rules, 2012.

(2) They shall come into force on and from the date of their

publication in the official gazette.

2. Amendment of rule 31.— In the Union Territory of Puducherrry

Legal Services Authority Rules, 1998, in rule 31, for the figures, brackets

and words “ ` 50,000 (Rupees fifty thousand only)”, the figures, brackets

and words “ ` 1,00,000 (Rupees one lakh only)” shall be substituted.
