NOTIFICATION ISSUED UNDER SECTION 339 OF PUDUCHERRY
MUNICIPALITIES ACT, 1973
The Beach Road is an important Tourism attraction and the Beach Road is
used daily by public and tourists for various activities like—
(i) Morning health walk by public and senior citizens;
(ii) Important National functions like Republic Day and Independence
Day celebrations;
(iii) Childrens rallies and demonstration;
(iv) Cultural events;
(v) Dramas and musical programme;
(vi) Competitions and Government activities; and
(vii) Mellas and seasonal market bazaars.

2. During the peak hours from 5.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m.
there will be large crowds with people using the space for walking, jogging etc.
Complaints have been received from the sections of public that taking our pet dogs
by owners during the peak hours is causing nuisance.
3. In exercise of the powers conferred under sections 339 and 109 (2)(b) of
the Puducherry Municipalities Act, 1973 and read with G.O. Ms. No. 34/LAS/A4/2015,
dated 25-3-2015, the Designated Officer, representing the Puducherry Municipal
Council has hereby approved the following notification regarding regulation of
pet dogs on Beach Road in Puducherry and the same is issued for information of
the public.
4. To keep the Beach Road neat and clean this notification is issued
restricting the movement of the pet dogs from 5.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
to 10.00 p.m. daily and only the pet dogs for which licence have been issued
by Puducherry Municipality may be allowed alongwith pet owners on Beach Road
during the rest of time. Any violation of this notification is noticed appropriate
action will be taken against defaulter under section 449 of this Municipalities
Act, 1973 in force.
