NOTIFICATION

Whereas, the proposal for amendment of the Puducherry Excise

Rules, 1970 was published as required under sub-section (1) of section 70

of the Puducherry Excise Act, 1970 (No. 12 of 1970), in the Department of

Revenue and Disaster Management, Government of Puducherry notification

issued under No. 3705-A/DC(E)/Sl/2015, dated 19th August 2015 and

published in the Part-II, Extraordinary Official Gazette No. 63, dated

19th August 2015 inviting objections and suggestions from all the persons

likely to be affected thereby within seven days from the date of

publication of the said notification in the Official Gazette of Puducherry;

2. And whereas, the objections received in response to the said

notification has been carefully considered by the Government.

After considering the objection/suggestion it has been decided to

include the term Special Spirits also alongwith the terms Rectified Spirit or

Extra Neutral Alcohol.

3. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 70

of the Puducherry Excise Act, 1970 (No. 12 of 1970), the

Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, hereby makes the following rules,

further to amend the Puducherry Excise Rules, 1970, namely:–

1. Short title and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called

the Puducherry Excise (Amendment) Rules, 2015.

(2) These rules shall be deemed to have come into force with

effect from the date of insertion of rule 5A i.e., Twenty-third day of

October,d Nineteen ninety-one.

2. Amendment of rule 5A.— In rule 5A of the Puducherry Excise

Rules, 1970, the following proviso shall be inserted, namely:–

"Provided that no import fee shall be levied on Rectified Spirit

or Extra Neutral Alcohol or Special Spirits including absolute

alcohol intended to be used for the manufacture of liquor meant

for human consumption.”.
