NOTIFICATION

Whereas, for the purpose of conducting Civic Election, the Government have proposed for the Delimitation

of Municipal Wards in accordance with the provisions contained in sub-section (1), section 16 of the Puducherry

Municipalities Act, 1973 in conformity with the Constitution (74th Amendment) Act, 1992.

2. Whereas, a Committee has been constituted to make recommendation on the Delimitation of Municipal

Wards, Commune Panchayat Wards and Village Panchayat Wards, and also for determining the reservation of seats,

etc., on the basis of Census – 2011 vide G.O. Ms. No. 28/LAS/A4/2013, dated 9-2-2015 in accordance with the norms

prescribed and as per the provisions contained in section 9 of the Puducherry Municipalities Act, 1973.

3. Whereas, the said Delimitation Committee for the Municipal Wards, Commune Panchayat Wards and

Village Panchayat Wards have submitted its recommendations in Part-I of the Report in respect of Municipal

Wards for all the 5 Municipalities of the Union territory of Puducherry.

4. Whereas, the Committee has in its report submitted specific recommendations on:—

(i) Delimitation of Wards in respect of Municipalities, as per Census-2011;

(ii) Reservation of Seats and Offices of Members and Chairpersons for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled

Castes Women and General Women; and

(iii) Determining the strength of the Members excluding the Chairpersons of the Municipalities.

5. The delimitation proposal as above shall be available with the respective Municipalities for inspection

by the public.

6. Now, therefore, in accordance with the provisions contained in sub-section (i) of the section 16 of the

Puducherry Municipalities Act, 1973, notice is hereby given for information of the general public calling of objections

or suggestions to be sent to the Director, Local Administration Department, Puducherry within one month time from

the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette of Puducherry. The objections or suggestions so

received shall be considered by the Government.

of Village Panchayat Wards and Commune Panchayat Wards in accordance with the provisions contained in

sub-section (1), section 12 of the Puducherry Village and Commune Panchayats Act, 1973 in conformity with the

Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992.

2. Whereas, a Committee has been constituted to make recommendation on the Delimitation of Municipal

Wards, Commune Panchayat Wards and Village Panchayat Wards, and also for determining the reservation of seats,

etc., on the basis of Census - 2011 vide G.O. Ms. No. 28/LAS/A4/2013, dated 9-2-2015 in accordance with the norms

prescribed and as per the provisions contained in section 9 of the Puducherry Municipalities Act, 1973.

3. Whereas, the said Delimitation Committee for the Municipal Wards, Commune Panchayat Wards and

Village Panchayat Wards have submitted its recommendations in Part-II (A and B) of the Report in respect of Village

Panchayat Wards and Commune Panchayat Wards for all the 10 numbers of Commune Panchayats of the Union

territory of Puducherry.

4. Whereas, the Committee has in its report submitted specific recommendations on:—

(i) Delimitation of Wards in respect of all Commune Panchayats and Village Panchayats, as per

Census-2011;

(ii) Reservation of Seats and Offices of Members and Chairpersons for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled

Castes Women and General Women; and

(iii) Determining the strength of the Members excluding the Chairperson of the Commune Panchayat.

5. The delimitation proposal as above shall be available with the respective Commune Panchayat for

inspection by the public.

6. Now, therefore, in accordance with the provisions contained in sub-section (i) of the section 12 of the

Puducherry Village and Commune Panchayats Act, 1973, notice is hereby given for information of the general public
