ORDER
The Government of India has noticed many false and
misleading advertisements about AYUSH products. The
Parliamentary Standing Committee for Ministry of AYUSH
has expressed its concern over the issue and asked to
initiate stringent action as per law to curb the misleading
advertisements.
State Government is empowered under section 8 of the
Drug and Magic Remedies Act, to authorise any Gazetted
Officer for local limits of an area to enter and search at all
reasonable times, with such assistants, as he considers
necessary, any place in which he has reason to believe that
an offence under the Acts has been or is being committed
and to seize any advertisement which he has reasons to
belive contravenes any of the provisions of the Act and
examine any record, register, document or any other
material object and seize the same if there is sufficient
evidence of commission of an offence punishable under
the Act or under the provisions of the Code of Criminal
Procedure, 1898.
As per section 8(1) of the Drug and Magic Remedies
(Objectionable Advertisement) Act 1954 any Gazetted
Officer authorised by the State Government may, within the
local limits of the area for which he is so authorised, initiate
the action as mentioned in the sub-sections a, b and c of
section 8 of the Drug and Magic Remedies Act, 1954.
Accordingly, Dr. R. Sridharan, Nodal Officer (Siddha) is
appointed as Gazetted Officer under section 8 of the Drug
and Magic Remedies Act in respect of Union territory of
Puducherry is concerned. He is authenticated to execute
the
Drug
and
Magic
Remedies
(Objectionable
Advertisement) Act 1954 as per section 8(1), with the
assistance of Department of Drug Control.

ORDER
Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi vide letter
No. 24013/09/Misc./2014-CSR.III, dated 24-3-2014 has
issued an Advisory to all States/Union Territories
regarding monitoring of investigation to ensure that the
Investigating Officers (IOs) as well as Prosecutors
should discharge their duties in such a way so as to
reduce the number of acquittals that occur due to errors/
lapses/gaps/inconsistencies during investigation or
prosecution of the cases/also in cases of wrongful
prosecution.
2. The Ministry, adverting to the suggestion of the
Hon’ble Supreme Court in Appeal No. 1485 of 2008,
dated 7-1-2014, to ensure quality of investigation of
crime, has inter-alia directed the Home Department to
constitute a Standing Committee with Senior Officers of
the Police and Prosecution Directors to analyse the case
and ascertain the mistake committed during investigation
and/or prosecution, or both.
3. Now, therefore, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry
is pleased to constitute a Standing Committee with the
following composition in the Union territory of
Puducherry, to ensure the quality of investigation of
crime and to examine all orders of acquittal and record
reasons for the failure of each prosecution cases:-
(i) Secretary to Government (Home) . . Chairperson
(ii) Secretary to Government (Law)
. . Member
(iii) Additional/Joint Secretary to . . Member
Government (Home).
(iv) Senior Superintendents of Police . . Member
(concerned).
(v) Director of Prosecution/Deputy . . Member-
Director of Prosecution.
Secretary.
4. Terms of reference:- (i) The above Committee shall
analyse all orders of acquittal and record reasons for
the failure of each prosecution case;
(ii) The Committee shall analyse the case and
ascertain the mistakes committed during investigation,
and/or prosecution, or both;
(iii) The Committee shall ensure that the acquittals
are reduced and the cause of justice is served by
ensuring conviction of the accused for crimes
committed on the victim and also infuse a sense of
seriousness in the performance of investigating and
prosecuting officials;
(iv) The Committee shall co-ordinate among the
Police Officers concerned; and
(v) The Standing Committee shall meet at least
once in every quarter or whenever the necessity
therefor arises, whichever is earlier and forward the
reports/recommendations to Home Department for
taking further action, which shall be complied with
immediately.

NOTIFICATION
It is hereby published for information of the public that the Special Officer of Puducherry Municipality
under powers vested under section 256(1) of Puducherry Municipalities Act, 1973 and read with sub-section (2) (b)
of section 109 of Puducherry Municipalities Act, 1973 has proposed to take over the land portions as detailed in the
Schedule below for the purpose of public roads in the housing colonies. Any member of public/land-owner who
have any objections to the said proposals shall send their objections in writing within one month from the date of
publication of this notification to the Commissioner, Puducherry Municipality for consideration by the Special
Officer of the Puducherry Municipality.

RE-TENDER NOTICE
Sealed tenders are invited offering the rate for
purchase of unserviceable furniture items mentioned
in the Annexure belonging to V.N. Purushothaman
Government Higher Secondary School, Palloor.
2. The tenders in sealed covers superscribing as
“Tender for the purchase of unserviceable items”
should
be
addressed
to
the
Vice-Principal,
V.N. Purushothaman Government Higher Secondary
School, Palloor, so as to reach this office on or before
29-3-2016 at 10.00 a.m. The tenders will be opened
at 11.30 a.m. on the same day in the presence of the
tenderers if any. Tender will be awarded to the highest
tenderer on the spot.
3. Those who are interested to participate in the
tender must deposit an earnest money deposit of
` 500 (Rupees five hundred only). The earnest money
deposit of the unsuccessful tenderers will be returned
after finalising the tender and that of successful
tenderers will be kept towards the cost of items.
4. The tender will be conducted for all items in a lot.
Tenderers, those who are interested may inspect the
items before they submit their tenders to know exact
condition of the items kept, on any working day.
5. The undersigned reserves the right to cancel the
tenders without assigning any reasons thereof. Any
breach of the rules of tender notice will result in the
forfeiture of the earnest money deposit.
6. The successful tenderer should pay the full
amount of the tender cost immediately after completion
of the tender process and should remove the condemned
items within two days (on working days only) at his own
risk and expenses. Sales tax at the admissible rate
will be collected extra on the sale proceeds.
