NOTIFICATION

The Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, hereby approves the proposal

for immediate payment towards funeral expenses of the deceased

pensioners on the day of death by the Department of Women and Child

Development, Puducherry and for the said purpose hereby makes

the amendment to “The Puducherry Old Age Persons and Destitutes

Pension Rules, 2011” notified in G.O. Ms. No. 42/2011-Wel(SW-IV),

dated 23-12-2011 of the Chief Secretariat(Welfare), Puducherry, namely:–

[PART–II

1. Short title and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called

“The Puducherry Old Age Persons and Destitutes Pension (Amendment)

Rules, 2016”.

(2) It shall come into force on and from the date of its

publication in the Official Gazette.

AMENDMENT

1. Amendment of rule 14.— In sub-rule(5) of rule 14 of

“The Puducherry Old Age Persons and Destitutes Pension Rules, 2011”,

the following shall be substituted, namely:–

“(5) On being satisfied as to the genuineness of the claim,

the Director shall sanction the assistance and payment shall be made

by the Deputy Director (SD) from the imprest of Puducherry region.

In other regions, the concerned Regional Administrators or Branch

Officers of the Department shall be the competent authority to

sanction the assistance and payment shall be made from the

imprest of the sub-offices concerned, subject to the fulfillment of

eligibility conditions. The amount shall subsequently be recouped,

debiting the expenditure to the concerned Head of Account of the

Scheme”.

2. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department,

vide their U.O. No. 1711/FC/FD/F5/A2/2016, dated 22-8-2016.
