NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2)
of section 26 and section 27 of the Apprentices Act, 1961
(Central Act No. 52 of 1961) approval of the competent
authority is hereby accorded to appoint the following

ORDER
A notification has been issued vide G.O. Ms. No. 35/
CHRI/T1/2015/999, dated 4th September 2015 of the
Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Wakf,
Government of Puducherry streamlining the procedure
to be adopted for the sale of uncultivable lands
belonging to various temples of this Union territory
of Puducherry at the prevailing market value rate to the
Government or by e-auction if, it is to the public in
pursuance of the approval of the Government vide
G.O. Ms. No. 35/CHRI/T1/2015, dated 4-9-2015 of
Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Wakf.
2. A Writ Petition No. 34457 of 2015 has been filed
on the file of the Hon’ble High Court of Judicature at
Madras challenging the abovesaid notification issued in
G.O. Ms. No. 35/CHRI/T1/2015/999, dated 4th September 2015
of the Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and
Wakf, Government of Puducherry, the Hon’ble Court
has ordered vide Order dated 29th October 2015
as follows “status quo as to the lands be maintained”.
The Hon’ble Court during the hearing of the Writ
Petition has advised the Additional Government
Pleader, Government of Puducherry to ascertain the
stand of the present Government with reference to the
implementation of the Government Order, which is
under challenge before this Hon’ble Court.

3. The Council of Ministers in its meeting held on
24th September 2016 has resolved to rescind the
abovesaid Government Order and directed the
Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Wakf
that a comprehensive survey be carried out on the status
of temple lands and a report be submitted within three
months vide Resolution No. 2016/M.08/31, dated
24-9-2016 of the Council of Ministers, Puducherry.
4. In pursuance of the Resolution of the Meeting of
the Council of Ministers, the Lieutenant-Governor,
Puducherry is pleased rescind the notification issued
vide G.O. Ms. No. 35/CHRI/T1/2015/999, dated 4th
September 2015 of the Department of Hindu Religious
Institutions and Wakf, Government of Puducherry
regarding the sale of uncultivable temple lands owned
by various temples of this Union territory of Puducherry.
5. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance
Department vide their U.O. No. 1961/F4/A1/Pro/2016,
dated 23rd September 2016.
