NOTIFICATION
Whereas, the Puducherry Medical Relief Society for the Poor has
been set up by the Government of Puducherry vide G.O. Ms. No. 52, dated
15-9-1998 primarily aimed at providing necessary financial assistance
to patients living below poverty line in the Union territory of Puducherry
and suffering from life threatening diseases to get necessary medical
treatment in any one of the specialized hospitals as approved by the
Government.

And whereas, the Guidelines for providing financial assistance to
the patients belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections in the
regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam of the Union territory
of Puducherry have been notified vide G.O. Ms. No. 56, dated 6-8-2015,
G.O. Ms. No. 8, dated 5-2-2015, G.O. Ms. No. 7, dated 5-2-2015
and G.O. Ms. No. 15, dated 25-2-2015 of the Health Secretariat,
Government of Puducherry, respectively.
And whereas, the Department of Health and Family Welfare,
Puducherry has proposed to enhance the annual income ceiling limit
of Economically Weaker Sections from ` 75,000 to ` 1,50,000.
It is further proposed to enhance the maximum limit of financial
assistance from ` 2,00,000 to ` 2,50,000 as approved by the Cabinet
vide Resolution No. 2016/M.01/05 so as to avail the medical benefits
extended by the Puducherry Medical Relief Society.
And whereas, it is proposed to modify the Guidelines of the said
Scheme for implementation in all the regions of the Union territory
of Puducherry.
Now, therefore, in partial modification of the earlier notifications,
as read above, and all other notifications issued in that behalf, save as
respects things done or omitted to be done before such modification,
the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry is pleased to approve the said
proposal and for the said purpose hereby modifies by way of
enhancement, the Guidelines for providing financial assistance to the
patients belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections in the regions
of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam of the Union territory of
Puducherry notified as read above, for implementation in all the four
regions of the Union territory of Puducherry for the said purpose,
as follows:
AMENDMENT
1. In respect of the Guidelines of the Scheme for implementation
in the Puducherry region notified in G. O. Ms. No. 56, dated 6-8-2015
of the Health Secretariat, Government of Puducherry,
(i) under the heading 'Quantum of assistance' under item
clause 4.1, for the words and figures thereof, the following shall
be substituted, namely:—

“4.1. The maximum limit of financial assistance for treatment
undertaken in the referral hospital will be enhanced from ` 2,00,000
to ` 2,50,000 (Rupees two lakhs fifty thousand only).”
(ii) Under the heading “Procedures to be adopted under item (d)
of clause 4.3.1, for the words and figures thereof, the following
shall be substituted, namely:—
“(d) Income ceiling is ` l,50,000 (Rupees one lakh fifty
thousand only) per annum as prescribed by the Government for
Economically Weaker Sections of the Society/Family.”
2. In respect of the Guidelines of the Scheme for implementation
in the Karaikal region notified in G. O. Ms. No. 8, dated 5-2-2015
of the Health Secretariat, Government of Puducherry.
(i) Under the heading “Procedures to be adopted” under item (d)
of clause 2(B)(i), for the words and figures thereof, the following
shall be substituted, namely:—
(d) Income ceiling is ` 1,50,000 (Rupees one lakh fifty thousand
only) per annum as prescribed by the Government for
Economically Weaker Sections of the Society/Family.
(ii) Under clause 5, for the words and figures thereof, the
following shall be substituted, namely:—
“5. The maximum limit of medical assistance for treatment
in the empanelled hospitals will be enhanced from ` 2,00,000
to ` 2,50,000 (Rupees two lakhs fifty thousand only).”
3. In respect of the Guidelines of the Scheme for implementation
in the Mahe region notified in G.O. Ms. No. 7, dated 5-2-2015 of the
Health Secretariat, Government of Puducherry,
(i) Under the heading "Procedures to be adopted" under item (d)
of clause 2(B)(i), for the words and figures thereof, the
following shall be substituted, namely:—
“(d) Income ceiling is ` 1,50,000 (Rupees one lakh fifty
thousand only) per annum as prescribed by the Government for
Economically Weaker Sections of the Society/Family.”

(ii) Under Clause 5, for the words and figures thereof, the
following shall be substituted, namely:—
“5. The maximum limit of medical assistance for treatment
in the empanelled hospitals will be enhanced from ` 2,00,000
to ` 2,50,000 (Rupees two lakhs fifty thousand only).”
4. In respect of the Guidelines of the Scheme for implementation
in the Yanam region notified in G. O. Ms. No. 15, dated 25-2-2015
of the Health Secretariat, Government of Puducherry,
(i) Under the heading “Procedures to be adopted" under
item (d) of clause 2(B)(i), for the words and figures thereof,
the following shall be substituted, namely:—
“ (d) Income ceiling is ` 1,50,000 (Rupees one lakh fifty
thousand only) per annum as prescribed by the Government for
Economically Weaker Sections of the Society/Family.”
(ii) Under clause 5, for the words and figures thereof, the
following shall be substituted, namely:—
“5. The maximum limit of medical assistance for treatment
in the empanelled hospitals will be enhanced from ` 2,00,000
to ` 2,50,000 (Rupees two lakhs fifty thousand only)."
5. The other conditions forming part and parcel of the Guidelines
of the Scheme remain unaltered.
6. This notification shall come into force with immediate effect.
7. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department
vide U.O. No. 1705/A2/16-17/F4, dated l1-8-2016.
