NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-sections (1) and (2) of

section 16-A of the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition

of Sex Selection) Act, 1994 (No. 57 of 1994), and in supersession of the Chief

Secretariat’s (Health) Notification issued vide G.O. Ms. No. 44, dated 23rd July, 2003,

save as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession,

the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, is hereby pleased to reconstitute the Union

Territory Supervisory Board for the Union territory of Puducherry consisting the

following Members for the purpose of this Act, with immediate effect.

2. The Government of Puducherry is further pleased to direct the above-said

Committee to discharge the following functions:

1. To create public awareness against the practice of pre-conception

sex selection and pre-natal determination of sex foetus leading to female

foeticide in the State.

2. To review the activities of the Appropriate Authorities functions

functioning in the State and recommend appropriate action against them.

3. To monitor the implementation of provisions of the Act and the Rules,

and make suitable recommendations relating thereto, to the Board.

4. To send such consolidated reports as may be prescribed in respect

of the various activities undertaken in the State under the Act to the Board

and the Central Government and -

5. Any other functions as may be prescribed under the Act.

3. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department, Puducherry

vide I. D. Note No. 2970/FC/FD/F4/A1/2017-18, dated 23-02-2018
