NOTIFICATION
In exercise of powers conferred under section 33 of
“The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”
(No. 49 of 2016) an Expert Committee to identify posts
in the establishments under the administration of the
Union territory of Puducherry which can be held by
respective category of persons with benchmark disabilities
in respect of the vacancies reserved in accordance with
the provisions of section 34 as appended to this
Notification is constituted.
2. The Committee shall analyse the posts operated
by various Government Departments/Autonomous
Bodies/Government Undertakings of this administration
and identify the posts suitable for persons with
benchmark disabilities as specified under section 34 of
the Act.
3. The terms of reference for the Committee are as
follows:-
(a) The Committee may co-opt any other member.
(b) Meetings of the Committee will be held in
Puducherry as per the convenience of the Chairman.
(c) The in-station non-official Members of the
Committee are entitled for Daily Allowance at the rate
of `
1,000 per day of sitting. The out-station
non-official Members are entitled to draw the Daily
Allowance along with reimbursement of travelling
expenses/air fare at economic class. Accommodation
shall be arranged at Government Guest House,
Puducherry.
(d) The Committee shall submit its report within
one year.

ORDER
The Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and
Justice, Government of India, has notified Irular
(including Villi and Vettaikaran) as Scheduled Tribes in
relation to the Union territory of Puducherry so far as
regards members thereof resident in that Union Territory
vide Presidential Order C.O. 268, dated 22-12-2016 and
re-notified vide Part-I of the Extraordinary Gazette,
Government of Puducherry vide Notification No. 10/Leg./
2017-LD/Repub., dated 10-01-2017 of Law Department,
Government of Puducherry.
Now, there is a demand from the Scheduled Tribe
people to rename the Department of Adi Dravidar
Welfare as Adi Dravidar Welfare and Scheduled Tribes
Welfare Department in the Union territory of Puducherry.
Accordingly, the Department of Adi Dravidar Welfare
is renamed as Adi Dravidar Welfare and Scheduled
Tribes Welfare Department with immediate effect.
