VACANCY OF SEAT IN THE UNION TERRITORY OF PUDUCHERRY DUE TO DISQUALIFICATION

UNDER PARA 2 (1) (a) OF THE TENTH SCHEDULE TO THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA, READ WITH

SECTION 14A OF THE GOVERNMENT OF UNION TERRITORIES ACT, 1963 AND THE MEMBER OF

THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY (DISQUALIFICATION ON GROUNDS OF DEFECTION) RULES, 1986.

Consequent on the orders delivered by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly and

published in the Part-I of the Extraordinary Gazette No. 96 dated 10th July 2020 disqualifying Thiru N. Dhanavelou,

a sitting Member of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly, elected from No. 23-Bahour Assembly Constituency, the

Assembly Constituency No. 23-Bahour Assembly Constituency in the Union territory of Puducherry, has become

vacant as per provision of the Article 190(3)(a) of the Constitution of India, from the date of delivery of orders of

the Hon’ble Speaker of Puducherry Legislative Assembly, i.e., on 10th July 2020.
