NOTIFICATION

Whereas, G.O. Ms. No. 05/2019/Wel.(SCW-II), dated 8th March, 2019 of the

Adi Dravidar Welfare Secretariat, Puducherry, was issued extending 0.5%

reservation for Scheduled Tribes Irular Community (including Villi and Vettaikaran)

(Puducherry and Karaikal regions) in respect of recruitment to Group “C” post as

well as for admissions in Educational Institutions and beneficiary-oriented

socio-economic welfare schemes implemented by different Departments in the Union

territory of Puducherry with effect from 08-03-2019.

2. And whereas, subsequently G.O.Ms.No.03/2019-20/Wel.(SCW-II), dated

22nd February, 2020 of the Adi Dravidar Welfare Secretariat, was issued extending

the reservation for Scheduled Tribes in respect of recruitment in Government

Department/Organisation, admission in Educational Institutions and beneficiary-

oriented socio-economic welfare schemes implemented by different Department with

effect from 22-12-2016, i.e., the date of issue of Presidential Order “The Constitution

(Puducherry) Scheduled Tribes Order, 2016”.

3. And whereas, after implementation of the 6th Central Pay Commission,

recomendations, there are only Group “A”, “B” and “C” posts and recruitment for

Group “A” and “B” (Gazetted) posts are done by Union Public Service Commission

(UPSC). The recruitment for Group “B” (Non-Gazetted) and Group “C” posts are

done locally.

4. Now, therefore, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, is pleased to order

that 0.5% of reservation shall also be provided to the Scheduled Tribes Irular

Community (including Villi and Vettaikaran) (Puducherry and Karaikal regions)

in the Union territory of Puducherry, in respect of recruitment including promotion

to Group “C” and Group “B” (Non-Gazetted) posts, admission in Educational

Institutions and beneficiary-oriented socio-economic welfare schemes in the

Union territory of Puducherry, with effect from 22-12-2016, i.e., the date of issue

of Presidential Order, viz., “The Constitution (Puducherry) Scheduled Tribes

Order, 2016”.
