ORDER

Whereas, the lease period in respect of retail vends of Arrack and Toddy

in the Union territory of Puducherry for the lease year 2020-21 is up to the

30th day of June 2021;

2. And whereas, in normal circumstances, auction for the retail vends of

Arrack and Toddy for the lease year 2021-22, renewable for two subsequent lease

years should have been conducted in the month of June 2021 itself;

3. And whereas, due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent

lockdown in the Union territory of Puducherry since April 2021, the auction process

of retail vends of Arrack and Toddy could not be taken up as per the normal

schedule;

4. And whereas, the Government in the circumstances have felt it expedient

to extend the present lease period in respect of retail vends of Arrack and Toddy

by 31 days;

5. Now, therefore, the Government, in pursuance of rule 143 of the

Puducherry Excise Rules, 1970, hereby extends the lease period of retail vends of

Arrack and Toddy in the regions of Puducherry and Karaikal of the Union territory

of Puducherry for a period of 31 days from 1st July 2021 to 31st July 2021

(both days inclusive) with same monthly kist amount and terms and conditions as

notified in the Revenue Department’s Notification No. 1821/DCE/TP/AUC/2020-21,

dated 25-07-2020 published in the Part-I of the Extraordinary Gazette of Puducherry

No. 104, dated 25-07-2020.
