NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred under section 9A of the Pondicherry
Village and Commune Panchayats Act, 1973 and 15A of the Pondicherry Municipalities
Act, 1973 and in supersession of the previous Order No. SEC/1-9(Secy.)/Civic Elec./
2012/248, dated 17-10-2012, the following officials of Government of Puducherry
are designated as Secretaries to the State Election Commission for the regions noted
against their names in the Table given below, for the purpose of effective
supervision and coordination of elections to Municipalities and Panchayats. Their
duties will include, inter alia, supervision and coordination of activities for
conduct of smooth, fair, free and peaceful election without interfering with the
statutory duties of Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers,
organisation of seminars for Returning/Assistant Returning Officers, helping
Returning Officers in conducting training classes, counting of votes, enquiring into
complaints and taking remedial actions therefor, seeking and ensuring cooperation
and coordination with various Government Departments, reporting to the
Commission and such other works entrusted to them from time to time.
