ADDENDUM

In continuation to the Notification in G.O. Ms. No. 18/Envt./2019, Puducherry,

dated 30th July, 2019 of the Chief Secretariat (Environment), Government of

Puducherry, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government

of India, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 6, 8 and 25 of the

Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, (26 of 1986), the Central Government has further

amended the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, and thereby imposed ban on

few additional Single Use Plastic items, vide Notification in G.S.R. No. 571(E), dated

12th August, 2021 of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change,

Government of India.

2. Now, therefore, in compliance to the Notification in G.S.R. No. 571(E),

dated 12th August, 2021 of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change,

Government of India, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, is pleased to impose

ban on additional Single Use Plastic items in this Union territory of Puducherry

with effect from 01-07-2022.

3. In the Notification vide G.O. Ms. No. 18/Envt./2019, Puducherry, dated

30th July, 2019 of the Chief Secretariat (Environment), Government of Puducherry,

in serial No. 1, after item (viii), the following items (ix) to (xiii) shall be inserted.–

(ix) Ear buds with plastic sticks, plastic sticks for balloons, candy sticks

and ice cream sticks;

(x) Polystyrene [Thermocol] for decoration;

(xi) Plates, cups, glasses, cutlery such as forks, spoons, knives, trays,

stirrers, wrapping or packing films around sweet boxes, invitation cards and

cigarette packets;

(xii) Plastics or PVC banners less than 100 micron;

(xiii) Non-woven plastic carry bags less than 60 Gram per Square Metre (GSM).

4. In serial No. 3 of the Notification vide G.O. Ms. No. 18/Envt./2019,

Puducherry, dated 30th July, 2019 of the Chief Secretariat (Environment),

Government of Puducherry, after item (v), the following items (vi) to (vii) shall be

inserted.–

(vi) The Station House Officers (SHOs) in the respective jurisdiction;

(vii) The Labour Inspectors of the respective jurisdiction.

5. All other contents in the said Notifications remain unaltered.
