ORDER

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (2) of section 109 of Puducherry

Municipalities Act, 1973, read with clause (b) of sub-section (2) of section 208 of the Puducherry Village and Commune

Panchayats Act, 1973 and in supersession of the Notifications issued vide G.O. Ms. No. 34/LAS/A4/2015,

dated 23-03-2015 and G.O. Ms. No. 8/LAS/A4/2017-18, dated 15-06-2017, save as respects things done or omitted to

be done before such supersession, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, is pleased to appoint the Director,

Local Administration Department, Puducherry, as the Special Officer for the Municipalities, Commune Panchayats

and Village Panchayats in Puducherry region to exercise all the powers and duties conferred and imposed upon

the Municipal Council, Standing Committees or other Committees of the Municipal Council and the Chairman,

Vice-Chairman, and other authorities (other than the Commissioner) by or under this Act, or any other law for the

time being in force till the new Municipal Councils/Commune Panchayat Councils/Village Panchayats are reconstituted

after the conduct of Civic Elections to the Municipalities, Commune Panchayats and Village Panchayats.
