NOTIFICATION
The Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, is pleased to notify the
Guidelines for the “Scheme for the award of cash incentive to the toppers
at regional level and students scoring centum in the subjects involving
theory in SSLC/SSC/Intermediate/Higher Secondary Public Examinations
in Government Schools in the Union territory of Puducherry” as detailed
in the Annexure appended to this Notification.

ANNEXURE
GUIDELINES OF THE SCHEME FOR THE AWARD OF CASH
INCENTIVE TO THE TOPPERS AT REGIONAL LEVEL AND
STUDENTS SCORING CENTUM IN THE SUBJECTS INVOLVING
THEORY IN SSLC/SSC/INTERMEDIATE/HIGHER SECONDARY
PUBLIC EXAMINATIONS IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS IN
THE UNION TERRITORY OF PUDUCHERRY
1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (i) The Scheme may
be called the “Award of cash incentive to the toppers at regional level
and students scoring centum in the subjects involving theory in SSLC/
SSC/Intermediate/Higher Secondary Public Examinations in Government
Schools in the Union territory of Puducherry”.
(ii) The Scheme shall be extended to the whole of the
Union territory of Puducherry.
(iii) It shall come into force with effect from the Academic year
2023-2024.
2. Object.— To award cash incentive to the top three rankers at
regional level and to the students scoring centum in the subjects
involving theory in SSLC/SSC/Intermediate/Higher Secondary in
Government Schools in the Union territory of Puducherry, to encourage
the students in the field of their Education.
3. Scope.— The Award shall be applicable to the students securing
top three ranks at regional level (Puducherry/Karaikal/Mahe and Yanam)
in the Union territory of Puducherry from the Academic year 2023-2024
in Government Schools and to Award cash incentive to the students
scoring centum in the subjects involving theory.

4. Definitions.— In this Scheme, unless the context otherwise
requires,-
(a) ‘Students’ means, students (boys and girls) appearing in
SSLC/SSC/Intermediate/Higher Secondary Public Examinations in
Government Schools.
(b) ‘Award’ means, the cash award instituted for the purpose
of this Scheme for Government Schools.
(c) ‘First’, ‘Second’ and ‘Third’ mean, the corresponding
position with regard to the total marks obtained by the student in the
Public Examination, viz., SSLC/SSC/Intermediate/Higher Secondary
Course Public Examinations.
(d) ‘Government’ means, the Secretary to Government
(Education), Government of Puducherry.
5. Eligibility.— (i) The student should be a citizen of India and
a resident of the Union territory of Puducherry, by virtue of birth or
continuous residence of not less than five years.
(ii) The student should have passed the qualifying examination
in the first attempt and no consecutive attempt marks shall be taken into
account.
6. Quantum of Award.— (a) Subject to fulfillment of eligibility
conditions, the quantum of Award of cash incentives instituted in
respect of the four regional levels shall be as follows:-

(b) In the event of more than one student getting equal marks,
the concerned full prize amount will be distributed to each of them in
full. This includes the marks secured by way of revaluation at a later
date as prescribed by the concerned Board. In case of doubts or disputes
of any kind, the decision of the Government shall be the final.
7. Methodology of Selection.— The Directorate of School
Education, Puducherry, will prepare the list of eligible students for the
Award of cash incentive for each region in SSLC/SSC/Intermediate/
Higher Secondary Public Examinations based on the total marks obtained
in the respective Public Examination on the basis of result analysis
published by the concerned Board.

8. Mode of Disbursement.— The award will be given through DBT
or by Demand Draft to the eligible beneficiaries every year.
9. Interpretation and Clarification.— In the implementation of
the Scheme, if, any doubt arises with regard to interpretation of any of
the provisions of the Scheme or if, any point requires clarification, the
matter shall be referred to the Secretary to Government (Education) and
the decision of the Secretary to Government (Education) thereon shall
be the final.
