GOVERNMENT OF PUDUCHERRY
CHIEF SECRETARIAT (HEALTH)
(G.O. Ms. No. 3, Puducherry, dated 14th February 2025)
NOTIFICATION
Of late, it is noted that the demand of organs such as kidney, liver, heart,
lungs, etc., is soaring due to the increasing prevalence of diseases like failure of
organs of humans. However, the unavailability of requisite organs for
transplantation to meet the existing demand has resulted in major organ shortage
crisis and the number of patients on the waiting list is increasing day by day. Organ
donation is a noble act that saves countless lives by providing a second chance
to those in dire need. Since the demand of organs far exceeds the requirements,
the topic of organ donation is of paramount importance.
2. Therefore, the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization is taking
several steps for conducting awareness programmes on organ donation and to
support the deceased donor transplant programme in the Union territory of
Puducherry.
