NOTIFICATION

Whereas, the Draft proposal to amend the Puducherry Excise Rules,

1970 was notified as required under sub-section (1) of section 70 of the

Puducherry Excise Act, 1970 in the Notification No. 6249/DCE/Estt./2025/

338, dated 18th March, 2025 of the Department of the Revenue and

Disaster Management, Government of Puducherry and Published in

Part-II, Issue No. 19, dated 19th March, 2025 of the Extraordinary Gazette

of Puducherry, inviting objections and suggestions from all the persons

likely to be affected thereby, within seven days from the date of

publication of the said notification in the Official Gazette.



And whereas, pursuant to the said notification, objections and

suggestions have not been received within the stipulated time-limit.

Now, therefore, in exercise of powers conferred under section 70

of the Puducherry Excise Act, 1970, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry,

hereby makes the following Rules further to amend the Puducherry

Excise Rules, 1970, namely:-

RULES

1. Short title and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called

the Puducherry Excise (Amendment) Rules, 2025.

(2) They shall come into force on and from the date of its

publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Substitution of sub-rule (16) of rule 141.— In the Puducherry

Excise Rules, 1970, in Rule 141, for sub-rule (16), the following sub-rule

shall be substituted, namely:-

“(16) The licensee/permit holder shall not employ any person

convicted of an offence under the Act or the Rules or under the

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.”
