NOTIFICATION

The 19th March, 2020

No.10/166/2009-1T2/460.-In continuation of notification no. 3/4/2017-4T2/1046386/1 dated 17.08.2017

in which all Sub-Divisional Magistrates in the State have been appointed as Licensing & Registering Authority

(Major Vehicles). However, it is further clarified that in exercise of the powers conferred under section 213 (1)

of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is

pleased to appoint all Sub-Divisional Magistrates in the State as officers of the Motor Vehicles Department and

to further declare that under rule 236 of the Punjab Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, they shall exercise the police

powers as conferred to Secretary, Regional Transport Authority within limits of their respective jurisdiction, as

contained in rule 238 (e) of the rules ibid under the control and supervision of the State Transport Commissioner,

Punjab.
