NOTIFICATION

The 3rd September, 2020

No. 1428.-In exercise of powers conferred by Section 73 of the Mental Health Care Act 2019 notified by

the Government of India, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to amend the notification No.12/13/17-5HB51433469

dated 05.03.19 and constitute Mental Health Review Board in each district consisting of following members:

1.

District and Session Judge of the District:

Chairman Ex-officio

2.

A representative of Deputy Commissioner not

Member Ex-officio

Below the rank of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM):

3.

Civil Surgeon of the District:

Member Secretary

4.

Psychiatrist in charge of District Hospital:

Member Ex-officio

5.

One person who is a care giver of person(s) with

Member Ex-officio

mental illness.

6.

A representative of a Non-governmental organisation

Member Ex-officio

working in the field of Mental Health.

The meetings of District Health Review Board as constituted above shall be convened in District Court

Complexes of respective districts or as per the convenience of the Chairman of the Board.

Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh vide no. 170 Spl.Gaz. II(2-G) dated 01-02-2019

has allowed the nomination of District Sessions Judges of the state as Chairpersons of the District Mental Health

Review Boards.
