No. 26/5/06/IRD-I/9924.-In Supersession of notification No. 26/5/06/IRD-1/2749 dated 18th April,

2016, notification No. 26/5/06/IRD-1/ 9952 dated 10.9.2015, notification No. 26/5/06/IRD-1/ 5713 dated 5th

July, 2011, notification No. 26/5/06/IRD-1/ 13533 dated 5th October, 2010 and in continuation to previous

notification No. 26/5/06/IRD-1/ 6378 dated 7th October, 2006, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to re-

constitute the Punjab State Employment Guarantee Council under the Chairmanship of Rural Development and

Panchayat Minister/Financial Commissioner Rural Development and Panchayats Department for the purpose of

regular monitoring and reviewing the implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA)

under section 12(1) of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), 2005 of Government of India.

Terms and Conditions: -

Chairperson and the official members of the State Council shall be appointed for a period of the

five years .

The period of the newly appointed non-official members (from S. No. 1 to S.No. 15 of the above

list) will be five years.

The meeting of the Council will be held at Chandigarh or at any place to be decided by the

Council.

Quorum: - The quorum of the member for the meeting shall be 1/3rd of the total number.

Duties and Function of the State Council:-

Advising the State Government on all matters concerning the Scheme and

Reviewing the monitoring and redressal mechanisms form time to time and recommending improvements.

Promoting the widest possible dissemination of information about National Rural Employment

Guarantee Act (NREGA), 2005.

Monitoring the implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), 2005 and the

Schemes in the State and coordinating such implementation with the Central Council.

Preparing the annual report to be laid before the State Legislative by the State Government.

Any other duty or function as may be assigned to it by the Central Council or the State Government.

The State Council shall have the power to undertake an evaluation of the schemes operating in the State for that

purpose to collect or cause to be collected statistics pertaining to the rural economy and the implementation of

the Schemes and programmes in the State.
