NOTIFICATION

No.3/1/2022-2T2/101.-In exercise of the powers conferred by sub Section 3 of section 3 of the

Punjab Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1924 (as amended from time to time) and rule 51A of the Centeral Motor

Vehicle Rule, 1989 and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to specify

the rate of concession on the Tax payable under Section 3 of the said Act, in case of vehicle is registered for the

first time against submission of valid certificate of Deposit in the State, namely:-

i)

Twenty five percent, in case of Non-Transport vehicle; and

ii)

Fifteen percent, in case of Transport Vehicle.

Provided that this concession shall be available upto eight years, in case of transport vehicles, and upto

fifteen years, in case of non-transport vehicle.

Further provided that this concession shall be applicable at the time of first registration only and the

validity of One Time Tax paid shall be according to the Punjab Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1924 (as amended)

and rules made thereunder.

Explanation: 1.

For the purpose of this rule, these periods shall be reckoned from the date of first

registration in both cases.

Explanation: 2

For the purpose of this rule, the expression Certificate of Deposit shall have the

same meaning as assigned to it in clause (c) of sub rule (1) of rule 3 Motor Vehicles

(Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Rules, 2021.

This notification will come into force with effect from today.
