NOTIFICATION

The 19th March, 2024

No. 11/7/2024-2J/806184.- In Supersession of Government of Punjab, Department of Jails (Jails

Branch) no.11/7/2024-2J/782865,dated 14.2.2024 and in compliance with the order dated 29.2.2024 passed by

the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in writ no. 406/2013 in Re-INHUMAN CONDITIONS IN 1382 PRISONS

the Government hereby constitutes following committee:-

I)

Principal/District Judge (Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority);

II)

District Magistrate (In charge Administrative Head of the District on Executive Side);

III)

Senior most lady judicial officer in the district;

IV)

Concerned Senior Superintendent/ Superintendent of Police;

V)

Secretary of the concerned District Legal Services Authority; and

VI)

Superintendent of concerned Jail; and

VII)

Superintendent of Women Jails/Women Barracks, (wherever possible).

3.

The Secretary of the DLSA shall be the Convener of the committee.
