NOTIFICATION

The 12th March, 2025

No-E-1/P.A.9/1994/S.202/2025/6170.- Whereas the Zila Parishad of the newly created district

Malerkotla has been constituted out of district Sangrur vide Government of Punjab, Department of Rural

Development and Panchayats, Notification No.E-1/P.A.9/1994/ S.161/2025/6169 dated the 12.03.2025.

And whereas the Governor of Punjab is satisfied that situation has arisen that the purposes of

the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, cannot be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the said Act in

relation to the said Zila Parishad.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 202 of the Punjab Panchayati

Raj Act, 1994, (Punjab Act 9 of 1994), and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab

is pleased to declare that the functions of the Zila Parishads shall be exercised by the respective Deputy

Commissioners of the districts Sangrur and Malerkotla.
